Aston by Budworth Parish Council

New Noticeboard at Hield Grove

The Parish council legally have to have a noticeboard somewhere in the parish where notices can be displayed for the general public to view. Sadly, after many years of repairs and maintenance the old notice board at Hield Grove had deteriorated beyond repair so the decision was take this summer to invest in a new one. Steve and Nathan from HHG kindly braved the freezing November weather to put the new noticeboard in place. We hope that the new notice board will last just as long as its predecessor and can be used by the parish for many years to come.

If any one would like to add notice to the notice board please contact the parish clerk.

The Pinfold Maintenance

Over the summer the Parish council took the decision to have the Pinfold cleared of the scrub and bramble that has grown in and around the walls, the pinfold in Aston by Budworth dates back to at least the 18th century and is made of traditional sandstone blocks and mortar. It would have been used to keep stray livestock in until their owners could pay to have them released. To prevent the weed and vegetation from undermining and damaging the mortar in the walls further it was decided that Steve Hankey from HHG would clear the area. I think we can all agree that he did a great job!

Hield Grove play area (UPDATE 25/07/2022)

It is with a great deal of thanks once again to Mr Benson and all the residents of Hield Grove for all their hard work and financial contributions for the ongoing improvements to the Hield grove play area.
There is now a second bench fitted plus heavy-duty goal posts with nets now in place.
The main play area is now open and we hope that younger residents of Aston By Budworth will have years of enjoyment from it.

Over the last few years Ben Benson and his team of helpers have been working to raise funds to tidy up the Hield Grove play area. Over the last few weeks they have gone to great efforts to cut back the overgrown sections of the area. They hope to sow flower seeds in the cleared areas and the parish council will be providing Dafodill bulbs.

The Aston by Budworth parish council members would once again like to thank Ben Benson and his team for their hard work.
