I can confirm that we are treating the repair to Waterless Bridge on Budworth Road with the utmost urgency as we understand the impact that this second closure is having on the local area. As mentioned in previous correspondence, we have now met with the Environment Agency (EA) to discuss acceptable methodology for repair to try and negate the need for a permit. The EA confirmed that this does need a permit to proceed, though informed us that they have cleared their backlog of applications through a recent recruitment drive and are now returning to their prior 8-week processing period. Better still, the EA are willing to work with us and ‘fast-track’ the permit application to enable a swift repair to be undertaken. Following this discussion, we are aiming to commence the repair works in the week commencing 8th December, with completion by 19th December, subject to permit approval and crane availability.
Regarding Cann Lane, early-stage investigations are underway, and ground investigations are planned. We will carry out cleaning and a CCTV survey of the drainage culvert adjacent to the collapse during the week commencing 1st December, with ground investigations to follow early in the new year. We anticipate finalising the design early in the next financial year, with construction to follow immediately thereafter.
To address the reliability issues with the current traffic signals on Cann Lane, I will request that they be replaced with an alternative set.
Kind Regards,
Jon MacPhie

Sadly one of the new sign posts at Hield Lane Juction has been knocked down, this has been reported to Cheshire east highways team and hopefully it will be fixed soon.
the new road signs have finaly arrived and been installed, the Parish council have had to fight for several years to get these signs replaced at the junctions of Hield Lane, Budworth heath lane and Budworth road. The street names signs on Frog lane and Budworth Road are also to be replaced in due course. We hope this will make life easier for visitors to navigate around the parish.
traCE – track, report, alert Cheshire East
You can report problem streets and highways issues using ‘traCE’. You can also check what issues have already been reported to Cheshire East. TraCE replaces the previous system, Fix My Street.
The Parish council legally have to have a noticeboard somewhere in the parish where notices can be displayed for the general public to view. Sadly, after many years of repairs and maintenance the old notice board at Hield Grove had deteriorated beyond repair so the decision was take this summer to invest in a new one. Steve and Nathan from HHG kindly braved the freezing November weather to put the new noticeboard in place. We hope that the new notice board will last just as long as its predecessor and can be used by the parish for many years to come.
If any one would like to add notice to the notice board please contact the parish clerk.
Over the summer the Parish council took the decision to have the Pinfold cleared of the scrub and bramble that has grown in and around the walls, the pinfold in Aston by Budworth dates back to at least the 18th century and is made of traditional sandstone blocks and mortar. It would have been used to keep stray livestock in until their owners could pay to have them released. To prevent the weed and vegetation from undermining and damaging the mortar in the walls further it was decided that Steve Hankey from HHG would clear the area. I think we can all agree that he did a great job!
